Children’s Halloween Witch Party
Halloween has always been a magical and special holiday. A time to embrace fears and to enjoy them, through dress-up and assuming scary identities for a day. The main focus of Halloween festivities used to be for kids to go ‘trick or treating,” door to door, throughout their neighborhoods, seeking candy and goodies from friendly (usually) and benevolent neighbors. Currently, for safety reasons, many cities and towns have now replaced trick or treating with Halloween parties, either private or community sponsored.
Whether large or small, the children’s Halloween witch party is a time for younger kids to have a lot of fun, while also socializing and enjoying the company of family and friends. There are a wide variety of games and activities that can make your party scary and fun. Be creative with the activities and food menu and you will have a truly successful event. Do some preplanning-planning and organize around a specific party theme, such as witches!
Witches, as well as warlocks and sorcerers are always Halloween favorites and when they get together, the bats and brooms will fly! You can easily find a smoking witches cauldron or two (dry ice) and decorate around them with , flying bats, spider webs and low lights. A CD with scary Halloween sound effects, or music will heighten the mood. Cover furniture with white sheets and turn-on some UV strip lights
Show a scary movie appropriate for the age group in attendance and have some ghoulish snacks. There are many great children’s Halloween witch recipes available and some of these are linked-to, on this website. Also, make sure you have plenty of juice or soda available, for that monster thirst.
Games anyone? You can play “pin the wart on the witch,” or “tail on the black cat,” or share a spooky story or experience. Depending on the size of the party, you can award prizes for the scariest, funniest costume etc. It’s good if you can include everyone as a prize winner, in one way or another. You can group kids in teams and do some kitchen witchcraft, pumpkin carving or cookie decorating. How about a witches “high tea” party for the upper crust of witch-dom, with each witch receiving her own name tag and authentic (funny) witch name.
Have fun, be creative and enjoy the holiday festivities through creating new fond memories for all to share!
